March 2014 Zonta Bog Newsletter
Dear Quaboag Valley Zontians and friends,
March is the month that spring arrives. May it really be true! Keep thinking sunshine and warm thoughts!
March is also the month to celebrate International Women’s Day and Zonta Rose Day. As a member of Zonta, you support Zonta International’s programs like the Safe Cities for Women in Honduras, Elimination of Mother to Child transmission of HIV in Rwanda and Liberia Fistula Program, just to name a few. Be proud of your involvement in improving the lives of women at home and around the world! Celebrate on March 8th.
Have you looked at the list of candidates for Zonta International? There is a very familiar name listed there. I am so proud to say that May Ann Rubis is a candidate for International Director!! We will all be cheering Mary Ann on and holding our heads a little higher because she comes from our Quaboag Valley Club.
On Friday, February 28, a few of us were able to attend the Celebration of Life for Connie Zambora. What a heartwarming ceremony with women sharing their remembrances of Connie’s smile, her humor, love of all things purple, her struggles and her caring ways and generous heart. So glad we could be there to say farewell to Connie from her Zonta friends.
I am happy to report that we have received an application for membership from Dana Burton. Kris and I had the pleasure of meeting with her over coffee at Kristina’s Kafe and Bakery in Belchertown. You can learn more about Dana in this newsletter.
I think my wandering friend and Co President may be returning in time for our March meeting. It will be good to welcome her back!
In Zonta friendship,
Joanne
